Your New GL

This week, I stepped down as guild leader of Invidious to allow someone else to keep things running for me as I try to keep up with a busier offline life. The change should be temporary (~a month or two) before I try to fit WoW back into my schedule. Until then, please treat Saveenä with respect and take up any inquiries with him.

This isn’t a free pass to slacking off. I know I have let my guild down these last few weeks, but do as I say, not as I do. The guild is going to keep running, and Invidious will resume raiding on the 13th. I have let Saveenä know that if anyone else has been consistently missing raids while I’ve been gone, and fails to make it next week without an advance warning, that you are to be replaced. The same rule applies to myself. My title as officer in the guild is currently only honorary. I have no right to a raid spot should it be filled until I come back full time and earn it.

Now for the mushy stuff. Yes, I love my guildies. Y’all have been a great family to me. Now make me proud.

And fish like, 5,000 more fish. I want that achievement.

Recruitment + Bank bump

As a reminder, our guild is accepting new applicants at this time, in many different forms. For more info on our needs, click this link.

Our Donations page has also been updated as of today. Take note that we specifically need Greater Celestial Essence, Heavenly Shard, Maelstrom Crystal, Highland Guppies, and Azshara’s Veil.

Our Stance on SOPA

Like the rest of the Internet, we are strongly against the Stop Online Piracy Act. If you haven’t heard, SOPA is a misguided attempt to halt copyright violation on the Internet in America. Embedded is a video explaining why SOPA is complete and utter bullshit and needs to be taken out back with a shotgun. Figuratively.

Don’t wait for a ballot to vote on. You’re not getting that chance. America, please contact your local representatives. Or sign this online petition. The Senate votes on the 24th, and we need to rally together to protect our rights. As for the rest of the world, yes you will be affected. And you’ll have to trust that American politicians will not bend you over and call you Sweetcheeks.

If this passes, we foresee a revolution.

Recruitment Opened

Well, we’ve got ourselves an open position, and we’ve got quite a bit of wiggle room for our composition. Here’s a list, followed by details:

  • Bear
  • Prot Warrior
  • Prot Paladin
  • Lock
  • Mage
  • Hunter
  • Resto Shaman

The current open spot is up for grabs by either a tank or a DPS. For tanks, we’re currently favoring a bear, followed by a warrior or paladin. For DPS, we’re open to a lock, mage, then hunter, in that order.

In addition to having an open spot, we’re asking a resto shaman to challenge one of our healers for their spot. Patch 4.3 brought in some good buffs for the shaman, and we’d like to make room for one that can thoroughly kick the ass of our current team.

Thanks for your interest – please get in touch with Eristhan, Jakkdup, Koktar, or Saveenä.

Merry Winter Veil!

Give the gift of raiding supplies this holiday season! I’m happy to announce that we now have a page for guild bank donations. Making announcements  in the widely-ignored Message of the Day wasn’t working out, and people tend to forget what they’ve heard hurriedly before a pull about what the bank needs. So now we have an entire page dedicated to what we need and how badly we need it. If changes are made, we’ll announce it again in the previously mentioned widely-ignored media.

To celebrate the upcoming holidays, there will be no raid tonight. Those of us with terrible time management skills should be desperately trying to get gifts together that look like they’re thoughtful. Those of us with even worse time management skills will be playing Star Wars. >.>

See y’all on SWTOR.

Full Roster

As of yesterday, Invidious enjoys a full roster.

That said, we’re always looking for new people who can get us farther. Anyone interested in earning a core spot for themselves should have LFR experience completing the entire raid, as well as a minimum item level of 375.

Also; next week is the week before Christmas. While we’re aware many of you will be doing last-minute shopping, we’re still planning to continue our raiding schedule. The exception is Thursday the 22nd. We’ll make an announcement the Tuesday or Wednesday before if we’re going to raid then.

Welcome to Dragon Soul

4.3 is here, and so is the Dragon Soul raid. As a reminder to all of our raiders and any readers, you should be up-to-date on any class changes and update your gear/playstyle as necessary. For full patch notes, please follow the link here to Blizzard’s blog.

As the patch dropped, we ran through some trash and came across what was possibly the hardest first-tier boss in the history of first-tier bossdom. He was so hard, we had to call the raid early.

Be prepared for Warlord Zan’ozz; if we blast through like we did with Morchok, we’ll be expecting you to know Yor’sahj the Unsleeping as well. We’ll be pushing for the Aspect of Death soon™, so keep up with progression.

It should be noted that Invidious has undergone a recent rule change regarding our attendance policy. Previously, we had a hard, set number for attendance that was graded monthly. Now our peons raiders just have to attend a more forgiving amount in a span of 2 weeks. The change has been recorded on our rules page above.

As a friendly neighborhood reminder, we’re still recruiting, and would love to have new blood on the team.

DPS slot open (position filled)

11/30/2011 Update: We have also opened up the DPS slot to a balance druid. Any lock or boomkin is encouraged to apply.

As of now, Invidious has an open 10th slot, perfect for a DPS. We’re searching specifically for a ‘lock.

Our roster can make excellent use of a warlock. You’ll be bringing us a magic debuff, spell crit, and most importantly (according to our raid leader) a haste buff for the shadow priest.

If you have any questions about our raids that can’t be answered here, get in touch with an officer in game. We’re always glad to help.

Off-tank for 4.3 (position filled)

As we enter 4.3, our composition is undergoing some changes. We’re in search of a warrior, druid, or deathknight to OT the upcoming Dragon Soul raid. You’ll also need a DPS offspec and set for 1-tank fights. Your tanking gear’s ilvl should be at least 370.

We are not accepting paladin applicants at this time. We believe strongly in a paladin’s ability to tank fights competitively in a raid setting—we have one as our MT! But we already have 2 very competent paladins in our raid, and can’t justify making room for another.

To elaborate on the off-spec requirements; know how to play, and have up-to-date gear. You should have the correct general (read; non-gimmick) spec, have your bars set up, and an ilvl of 359 or higher.

We look forward to hearing from you soon! =p

Invidious (Crushridge-PvP) is a 10's guild with the goal of completing content seriously on a casual schedule.

To Invidious, taking the content seriously means showing up on time, being aware during raids, and doing the best your class can do given our composition and the encounter. We have no interest in competing for server rankings or logging hours into the PTR for bleeding-edge content. It's about showing respect for yourself and your fellow raiders. We get only 7.5 hours a week, and we aim to make the best of it.

Please take a few minutes to look around the site and see what our rules, expectations, and loot details are. We'd like to hear from you in game after that, be it questions, concerns, or an inquiry to join. We'll be asking about your comprehension of our rules before sending you an invite.

Our officers are Eristhan, Jakkdup, Koktar, and Saveenä.
